I first came across Your Throne in an activity hosted by Webtoon. The reward for completing tasks was 5 coins (coins are used to unlock episodes) and I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try, so I gave it a go. I read two royal romance manhwa: The Remarried Empress and Your Throne. The two of them are amazing and it was definitely worth reading them!

Your Throne

Author: SAM / @Cedar_kr

Alternative Titles: 하루만 네가 되고 / I Want To Be You, Just For A Day

Publish Date: January 6th, 2020

Genre: Fantasy, Isekai, Romance, Historical, Action

I love both but I prefer Your Throne better, and that’s why I’ll talk about it here. Here’s a brief synopsis provided by Webtoon:

Tensions are brewing under the seemingly calm surface of the Vasilios Empire, a kingdom ruled by the Imperial Family and the Temple. Lady Medea Solon has lost her place next to Crown Prince Eros, but resolves to do whatever it will take to win back what’s rightfully hers Will she reclaim her throne?

A little more explanation: This manhwa features a strong female lead, Lady Medea, the girl with the purple hair, whose life purpose is to claim her throne as a Crown Princess. Medea lost to Psyche unfairly despite her outstanding intelligence, competence, and continuous victories against her naive opponent. Of course, our female lead won’t back down, so she’s decided to win back what’s rightfully hers... even if it needs switching their bodies. What I mean is that they switch their body accidentally, not intentionally. Although Medea desperately wants to live as Psyche, her wish came true during the “accident”.

Not only do I like the character development of Medea, but this manhwa is also different from others I’ve read. This is my first time encountering plots that have both isekai and historical elements, and the way that Medea develops in another character’s body. And switching bodies is very rare to see other among manhwa. I would say that she has grown from a girl full of jealousy and rage to a mature and wise young lady, it wasn’t easy for her to overcome such a challenge in someone else’s position. Despite the limited amount of drama, I think the author really shows off the strong, and underlying potential of Medea.

Besides Medea, the developments of other characters are fascinating and unanticipated. Every one of them has so much more to their story than their mere persona. (And there is Helio! Who dedicated his heart to Medea. What a lovely couple💕) The evolution and twists of these characters always kept me on my toes, and I just couldn’t guess or infer until I read the next panel. Cliff hangers are the worst!

Not only does this manhwa has intriguing plots, but it also conveys messages that people often overlook. So if you read the manhwa and want to share, feel free to comment below!
