SO MANY FEELS! This book is a soul stirring roller coaster, and leaves no eyes dry at the end. As well this book is perfect for school, as it is a brilliant coming of age story that a lot of teens experience. And if you are going through the same struggle as Simon, my heart goes out to you as I am a huge ally of the community.

4. Children of Blood and Bone

Boring classes? Want to escape for a while? Then read this book to enter a beautifully painted fantasy world inspired by African culture and mythology. If you want a book about magic, fascinating lands, and characters, then this is for you. This book is based around a girl who is trying to find herself and her purpose in this world. Full of amazing representation, feels, great storytelling, and a little bit of magic, this coming of age story makes for a great escapade.

5. The Downstairs Girl

Who says that learning has to be boring? If you're tired of dusty textbooks, long monotone lectures and formulas on how to calculate the space a decagon takes up ( so useful amirite?), then dive right into this book. Learn about history, minority culture, and social activism with a dash of adventure, a strong heroine, mystery and feels. The Downstairs Girl is one of the best historical fiction I've ever read, and I promise that it won't be abandoned at the bottom of your backpack anytime soon!
